sweet.salty.spicy.crunchy... summer mornings are made for special breakfasts! try these super simple bacon maple doughnuts for a little thursday morning pick.me.up!
1) grab a roll of refrigerated biscuit dough. cut each biscuit into quarters, and roll each piece into a small ball (this will make your doughnut ‘hole’). gently place each doughball into 350 degree oil - fry for about three minutes, or until nice and golden brown. remove, and let cool on a papertowel.
2) while the doughnuts are cooling, make your maple glaze. mix maple syrup and powdered sugar until you get a thick glaze. add a pinch of cayenne powder for a wee kick.
3) crumble up a few pieces of leftover bacon (or fry up a few pieces just for these doughnuts! its TOTALLY worth it!)
4) dip your cooled doughnuts into the maple.cayenne glaze and roll in your bacon crispies. eat with reckless abandon. after all, its the little things…
